The prototypes #2 and #3 of the Longtze Premier series have come back to race on Hong Kong waters this weekend for two days of competition, the Lipton Cup and Hong Kong Harbour day.
On the agenda, two full days of regattas, ideal for testing their new carbon rudders. Between the damage sustained Tuesday afternoon and the delivery of the new carbon pieces, 72 hours have passed. The rudders were made in Qingdao, at Zhou Marine, in the same molds as the previous ones, but this time fabricated completely in carbon. They arrived in Shenzhen Thursday night. China Team was then able to prepare its boats Friday, a day off for the majority of teams, and take up racing for the weekend regattas. A very positive return to the water which allows testing the modifications in competition. This time, everything is going well. "Everyone had a super week-end”, explained Pierre Mas. "We are very happy with our carbon rudders. On Sunday, we had an excellent race around the Hong-Kong island, in quite varied wind conditions. We started in "medium" winds, along the city highways, then we had 25 knots from the stearn after leaving the port, with a lot of chop and big waves. We tested the rudders offshore under spinnaker. Our boats truly performed, literally surfing on the water. On the coastline outside of Hong Kong, we fell into a wind hole, in the middle of other boats who were just starting. We sailed the race well , catching all the Magic 25s and the majority of the fleet of sportboats, except for the “10 meter” boats. Absolutely no strange noises or sailing problems. It was perfect! We are totally satisfied with the boats after this modification."
