They’re on the way! The first nine boats of the series have already been bought by owners in Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, and Switzerland. They will sail on European waters starting this coming springtime, in a regatta circuit managed by the Class.
Luc Gellusseau, the European director of the LONGTZE Premier Class, will be responsible, along with the owners, for organising a series of events. The aim is to set up regular sporting events. The LONGTZE Premier fleet will take part in the first event, the Naval School Grand Prix. This is the biggest sports boat meeting of its kind in Europe which will take place in Brest, France from 8-11 of May, 2008. The first LONGTZE PREMIER sailing centre is now operational at the France Sailing Center in La Rochelle. Two boats are permanently available and ready to sail thanks to logistics and an infrastructure at the Centre that will allow these boats to be tested on water by anyone who wants to discover them and try them out. Meanwhile, action hasn’t slowed down in Asia. Following on the Langkawi and Singapore regattas which opened the Asian sailing season and confirmed the quality of the boats (speed, performance and easy to handle), the LONGTZE class has definitively set up home in the region. In Qingdao , city of the Olympics games, the production of LONGTZE Premier was launched February 2008 at Zou Intermarine with the schedule of four boats per month. The crew is preparing for the 13th China International Boat Show as well, which will be staged at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from April 10-13, 2008. The construction and utilization of LONGTZE Premier in regattas are encompassed by a strict class rule. The intention of these rules is to ensure the boats are as identical as possible in construction, hull shapes, weight distribution, equipment, rigging, sail plan and also to ensure fair racing. The Class rule will be unveiled at the Shanghai boat show next month.
