They got their first taste of sailing on LONGTZE Premier during the China-Japan-Korea International, in which LONGTZE brought home a handsome first place. Here now are their opinions and reactions! A quick tour of China…
Mingfeng Tang : Former member of China Team, Ming Feng TANG, a member the Olympic 470 sailing team, 1st at the Chinese 470 championships in 2003 and 2005, 3rd at the Asiatic Games in 420’s in Busan (Korea) and sail trimmer with CHINA TEAM for the 32nd America’s Cup, ended up racing the China-Japan Korea International Regatta on Flying Tigers: “It has been awhile now that I have heard about LONGTZE Premier, and finally I have seen them on the water during this regatta. From the moment I saw them, I had the urge to go sailing on one. It is a small sailboat , its origins coming from the America's Cup. A small race car of the sea. It’s speed is amazing. On the second day, there wasn’t enough wind to sail, the whole fleet waited for breeze, the large sailboats weren’t moving at all. There were two LONGTZE’s which were sailing just fine, as if there wasn’t anything different, taking their start and completing the upwind-downwind course. LONGTZE Premier is truly an agile boat, even when there isn’t much wind. It is a shame I couldn’t sail onboard!”
The Airsea transport team : “Even for beginners, the thing that can be said, is that LONGTZE is easy to handle. In three words: beautiful, fast, and delicate” Xinjian Zhu : President of the Rizhao regatta committee, as well as future Qingdao Olympic Games committee president, and the head coach of the sailing academy in China.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of your town Rizhao with respect to other towns who are involved with sailing in China?« What future development plans are there? Rizao, is a small town, with a small population, no pollution or industry. It is a tourism town. Its strongest quality is the sea. We have about a 100km coastline, ideal wind and sea conditions for sailing, and above all, reasonable depths in the areas where we organize regattas. For example, in Rizhao, the depths are around 10m, but in Qingdao, it can go up to 20m. This means in Rizhao, setting a buoy is a lot easier. But Rizhao is a small town, the infrastructures are less developed than other towns, even though the City Hall is very receptive to nautical sports. Rizhao has always organized regattas like the Chinese Nautical Games, or the 470 world championships. Today, it is the national sailing training center. In southern China, they organize the China Cup each in year in October. We would really like to have a China Cup in the North of China in Rizao…
What are your first impressions of LONGTZE Premier? I was on the committee boat and I got a very good look at the two LONGTZE Premier’s. It is a very esthetically pleasing boat and above all very fast. It is a boat which has a future in China, to have fun or compete in regattas. In light airs the boat moves very well, and I did not get to see it sail in stronger winds. But if the team continues to contain costs, maintain quality and delivery, there is a chance it could develop very quickly. Find more photos here Yang Li |
