The central pit area gives the opportunity to manage all the halyards, haulout and tacklines from a single area accessible by the crewmembers. The aft part of the cockpit can then be dedicated to spinnaker manoeuvres. The pit is protected by foot steps coming from the mast area in the centre of the boat.
